A Family Business

APPLEBY REAL ESTATE was established as a family company in 1963 with Bob and Isabel Appleby as the proprietors. Bob, the son of 1916 Bayswater Pioneers Albert and Alice Appleby was raised in the Knox municipality of Melbourne as well as Isabel. Both felt passionate in their pursuit of providing a real estate service to their "home" community. Innovative in their approach to building the business they became market leaders as developers of strata factory sites, land subdivision and the sale of new and established residential property. This lead to the offshoot of numerous professional business opportunities that formed the backbone of the current organisation.

The Applebys prided themselves on being able to look at a vacant site, determine its highest and best use, then arrange the development, lease where appropriate and management and/or sale of the developed property. This enabled them to gain a business reputation that is highly regarded as a professional, results orientated and customer focussed organisation. Today the daily running and business enhancement is managed by Ritchie Appleby and a Board of Directors.

Profound community involvement saw the development of many clubs such as the Knox Club, Rotary, Bayswater Bowls Club plus the Knox Premier Building Society with various forms of hospitality management. Bob Appleby was founding Chairman of the Outer Eastern College of Tafe (now known as Swinburne University) and also holds ties with global funds management company SAI Teys McMahon via Bobs role as Chairman of the board and strategic planning/acquisition strategies. This invaluable experience and history has ensured we have a market knowledge thats second to none, backed up by a strong local and international presence and a recognised, highly respected brand. The Appleby group has forged a reputation for integrity and dedication to excellence in all facets of business, coupled with a progressive approach to real estate which has taken us successfully into the 21st century.

The company has seen expansion through a number of significant developments including the acquisition of Lawrence/Butler Commercial of Blackburn, Gray & Johnson Melbourne (Est. 1914), Gardner & Lang Melbourne (Est. 1913) (both located in Collins Street) and W & J Burke of Boronia (Est. 1957).

The growth of Appleby International, as its own entity, has cemented our stance as leaders in our field providing clients with a worldwide network and a multitude of investment opportunity. Appleby International has established associated links with Malaysia, Singapore, China and more recently United Arab Emirates with offices in the UAE. Appleby International are proud members of FIABCI The International Real Estate Federation along with all major real estate network groups listed at rear.

Our commitment to exceptional service is upheld by our dedicated team of professionals. Over the years weve built up a vast network of loyal clients, some with a family succession of 3 generations who rely on us to take care of all their real estate needs not only locally but also internationally. During the past 18 years, we have also acted as exclusive agent for State Trustees within the Knox area; we also act for major banks and various solicitors in handling their mortgagee sales when required. Our loyalty to the community and charity organisations maintains a high level of commitment through active involvement, support and education/guidance being offered.

In 2007 the Appleby Group received a "High Recommendation" for "Excellence in Customer Service" from the Australian Achiever Awards.
